Irish Coffee is a warm coffee drink made by combining hot coffee, Irish whiskey, sugar, and a layer of lightly whipped cream. The drink is known for its rich flavor and smooth balance between strong coffee, sweetness, and the warmth of whiskey.

Origin

The recipe was created in Ireland during the 1940s. It was originally prepared to warm travelers arriving in cold weather and later became popular in cafés and bars around the world.

How it’s made

Hot coffee is poured into a heat-resistant glass and mixed with sugar and Irish whiskey. Lightly whipped cream is then carefully poured over the back of a spoon so it floats on top. The coffee is served without stirring, allowing it to be sipped through the cream.
